Build the Foundation. Develop the Confidence.
Owning a firearm is a responsibility. Knowing how to operate one safely and confidently is a skill.
MTAC's Basic Pistol course is designed for prospective firearm owners, new firearm owners, first-time shooters, and anyone looking to build a solid foundation before progressing to live-fire defensive training.
Unlike traditional lecture-based concealed carry classes, this highly interactive, hands-on program emphasizes guided repetition using MTAC-provided training pistols, Blue Guns, inert training aids, and dry-practice exercises. Students will develop safe firearm-handling habits, learn the mechanics of semi-automatic pistols, and gain the confidence necessary to transition successfully to live-fire instruction.
This course is intentionally structured to eliminate many of the common frustrations new shooters experience before they ever step onto the range. Students will leave with a clear understanding of firearm safety, administrative handling, loading and unloading procedures, marksmanship fundamentals, and range expectations.
Whether you've never handled a handgun or simply want to reinforce the fundamentals, Basic Pistol provides a safe, professional learning environment taught by experienced instructors committed to developing responsible and capable firearm owners.

Basic Pistol is the first step in MTAC's handgun development pathway. This course is intentionally designed to prepare students for MTAC's live-fire Defensive Pistol program by developing the confidence, knowledge, and safe firearm handling skills necessary before stepping onto the range.
Rather than spending valuable range time learning administrative firearm handling and foundational concepts, graduates of Basic Pistol arrive prepared to focus on developing practical defensive shooting skills under the supervision of experienced instructors.
Whether your goal is personal protection, responsible firearm ownership, or continued skill development, Basic Pistol provides the foundation upon which every future handgun course is built.
